Man and Tree

Earlier I took a photo of the tree in this image standing alone and worked it with the computer until I found the image I wanted to share on this blog. In this version Bill is walking the path and is about to pass the tree on his right. It was spring and everything was coming out that fresh green of spring. Using the Ulead I decided I wanted a more yellow green look. After comparing several version I settled on this one. It is my second favorite time of the year with fall number one.

The Tree

The tree is gone I think. The last time we were in the park I didn't see it. It had to be at least a hundred years old. The county decided to widen the path making it no longer a trail but a road. The "road" is large enough to allow trucks to get back there. Bill thought, but, we have no proof, that the county was going to start allowing atv's to ride back there. I thought it more likely that they wanted to be able to get larger vehicles back there, fire trucks, utility trucks, etc.... Along the edge of the park and trail is a new shopping center. Making the trail a road allows access to the rear of the shopping center. So, good-bye old tree. I think maybe I need to go back one more time. Maybe I just missed it. I hope so.

Now that spring is around the corner and the weather is warmer we watch for the green sprouts to shoot upward.

Long-A-Coming

We went down to the county park in Berlin on a nice spring day. The Long-A-Coming branch of the Great Egg Harbor River meanders through it. At one of the foot bridges that crosses Bill noticied these plants growing on the bottom. Several plants had made it to the top and Bill was able to captur the play of light and the different shades of green.

Mushrooms are very hard for us to identify. So we are left to photograph for their beauty. They have such great colors, shapes and tectures. Maybe someday we will learn their names.

Footsin through park trails with our cameras ready, one or both of us might stop along the way. Checking if we have a photograph to shoot, like these mushrooms attached to a tree, moss growing on its side. We've checked our guidebook and find it very hard to ID.
