Oswego Lake

The lakes of southern New Jersey are all man-made. Near Lake Oswego is the Oswego River which flows east meeting with the Wading River. They both eventually flow into the Great Bay. Canoeist enjoy the trip. In the fall it is the starting point of many trips.

Early Morning Mist

I noticed how much harder it is to get up early and catch these great early morning shots. Many years ago Bill and I arrived early and he caught the mist as it rose up off the lake. Now we look for late afternoon shots when we travel.

Walt's Lake

Laurel Springs, NJ

There is a small town in South Jersey, about a mile square. It's Laurel Springs, home to the Whitman-Stafford House. In his latter years, Walt Whitman would come here and spend time visiting friends. Nearby is Laurel Lake which is the North Branch of the Big Timber Creek. I can imagine the great poet coming down to the lake, listening to the birds and the wind, feeling the cool water on his feet and jotting down famous lines of poetry.
